Sneakers and Canvas Call to Artists

Artist Opportunity: Decorated Sneakers and Sneaker-themed Canvas: The opening night for CONTINUUM will be their V.I.P. Black Tie and Sneaker Charity Affair, on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. The event is to benefit Faith’s Place Center for Education Inc. Faith’s Place is an organization that provides educational services to the community, offering pre-school (VPK), homework assistance, tutoring, and after school arts enrichment programs. Donations to Faith’s Place will be the suggested admission at the door of a new pair of sneakers, as well as the auctioning off of artist-decorated sneakers and canvases. Artists may choose to decorate a pair of sneakers or a 20” x 20” canvas, both of which will be provided by A.T.B. Fine Artists & Designers. The decorated sneakers and sneaker-themed canvases will be sold through a silent auction during the Black Tie and Sneaker Charity Affair.

Please go to the page on this website titled "Sneakers Call to Artists" to download the Call to Artists and receive all the information related to this opportunity.

Last year, artists decorated pairs of sneakers, but this year we are also offering the opportunity to create a sneaker-themed canvas. The artists really outdid themselves with their decorated sneakers. Here are a few from last year for inspiration.

Artists Lunch & Lecture: Business Networking for artists

Have you ever attended a business networking luncheon and have felt left out because not only are you the only artist at the event, the topics do not relate to your needs as a professional artist or an art business?

A questionnaire circulated online via social media and email, asking the artists topics they wish to be covered for this first lunch. Financial aid and grants, legal opportunities for artist protection, self promotion and art show submissions are just a few topics that will be covered.

CEO/Founder Karen Alleyne-Means of Herlife Magazine will be one of our speakers. Herlife Magazine will be coming out with an Arts & Entertainment issue in November.

The Artists Lunch & Lecture Table 427 is at 427 Northwood Rd, West Palm Beach, FL Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM

 Please buy your tickets below.

Continuum Artists Painting Downtown

It has just been announced that two of our last year's Continuum artists will be painting murals in downtown West Palm Beach. To see the article and details in the Palm Beach Post, click here. Eduardo Mendieta will be adding four levels of murals on the Banyan Street parking garage, with Jay Bellicchi. Craig McInnis, with Steven Marino, will be painting the four levels at the opposite end of the garage, later in December. When visiting the Continuum gallery next January, be sure and park at this garage (the gallery is one block south then west) to check out the artwork.

Here's one of Eduardo Mendieta's pieces that was at Continuum last year. You can also see one of his latest murals near the community garden in Northwood at 941 25th Street, West Palm Beach.

Craig McInnis had this acrylic painting at Continuum last year, titled "Ascension."

You can see a completed mural by Craig, called "Metamorphosis", in Northwood as well (SW corner of 24th Street and Spruce, West Palm Beach). Here he is working on it.

You've got to hand it to these outdoor mural artists -- they've got to fight the mosquitoes and dodge the South Florida rains. I'm sure they are both happy when they get an indoor commission like the downtown parking garages. (Maybe not -- I forgot about the lack of A/C in a parking garage stairwell.)

Review of the January 2014 event

The first year of Continuum was a huge success. In January, 2014, we opened the Continuum gallery on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach and welcomed hundreds of people to our Black Tie & Sneakers opening night. As they enjoyed the music, and refreshments, the artists were on hand to describe their artwork.

Check out this review written by A Guy on Clematis, aka Aaron Wormus.

Please be a sponsor.

CONTINUUM 2015 is growing by the day.

Last year not only did we sell art,  many artists received outside opportunities, we raised money for a non-profit and hosted a shoe drive on their behalf as well. We raised the bar on the expectations of the art community.

We would love for you to be part of the process. Be a sponsor of the creative fun in the Downtown City of West Palm Beach.  If you wish to be a sponsor, please contact us at continuum@atbfineartists.com and request a sponsor packet.
